Cymoxanil 8% + Mancozeb 64% WP is a broad-spectrum, dual-action fungicide combining a translaminar/locally systemic component with a protectant, multi-site dithiocarbamate component, registered for use in India under the Insecticides Act, 1968, formulated as a wettable powder (WP). It is registered for the control of downy mildew, late blight and gummosis (foot rot) across grapes, potato, tomato, cucumber and citrus. This page lists its mode of action, key benefits and the complete crop-wise recommended dosage as per the Central Insecticides Board & Registration Committee's (CIB&RC) official list of approved fungicide uses.

Which Problem Is This For? (Symptom Guide)

Not sure whether what you're seeing in the field matches this fungicide's use case? This guide helps match symptoms to this fungicide's approved crop-wise uses.

Crop Other Names What You'll See in the Field
Grapes, Cucumber Downy mildew (मृदु रोमिल आसिता). Pale yellow, oily or angular patches on the upper leaf surface with a white to grey-purple downy fungal growth on the corresponding underside; in grapes this is accompanied by shrivelled, brown "mummified" berries.
Potato, Tomato Late blight (झुलसा रोग). Irregular, water-soaked, greyish-brown patches on leaves and stems that spread rapidly in cool, humid weather, with a white fungal growth visible on the underside of leaves in early morning; affected tubers/fruit develop firm, dark, sunken rot.
Citrus Gummosis / Foot rot. Dark, water-soaked lesions on the trunk near the soil line that ooze gum and cause the bark to crack and slough off, girdling the trunk and leading to dieback of the canopy above the affected area.

    Mode of Action

This product combines two complementary modes of action. Cymoxanil (FRAC Group 27, cyanoacetamide-oxime) has translaminar and locally systemic movement within leaf tissue, giving useful curative and anti-sporulant activity against downy mildew and late blight pathogens already established in the plant, in addition to some protective action. Mancozeb is a multi-site protectant fungicide (dithiocarbamate group, FRAC Group M03) that interferes with several enzyme systems in fungal cells simultaneously, forming a protective barrier on the plant surface that prevents spore germination before infection begins. Combining a fast-acting, locally systemic component with a multi-site protectant gives both quick knockdown of existing infection and longer-lasting preventive cover, while reducing the risk of resistance developing against the cymoxanil component alone.

    Features & Benefits

    • Dual-action formulation — a locally systemic, anti-sporulant component plus a multi-site protectant — giving both curative and preventive control of downy mildew and late blight.
    • Fast-acting curative activity against downy mildew and late blight infections already present in the plant, useful when disease pressure is detected after infection has started.
    • The multi-site protectant component (mancozeb) is not prone to single-site resistance, which helps slow resistance development against the cymoxanil component when used as directed.
    • Wettable powder (WP) formulation that mixes into a stable spray suspension for uniform tank application.

Recommended Usage of Cymoxanil 8% + Mancozeb 64% WP Fungicide

The table below gives the recommended dose and water volume per acre for grapes, potato, tomato and cucumber, converted from the official rate published in the Central Insecticides Board & Registration Committee's (CIB&RC) list of approved fungicide uses (Government of India), which is expressed per hectare (1 ha ≈ 2.47 acres). Citrus gummosis is treated on a per-tree basis rather than a per-acre spray. Always spray/apply in the recommended water volume for uniform coverage, and confirm against the current product label before use.

Crop Target Disease Dose per Acre Water Volume per Acre Waiting Period (PHI)
    Grapes Downy mildew ~600–800 g 200–400 litres 10 days
    Potato Late blight ~600 g 200–300 litres 10 days
    Tomato Late blight ~600 g 200–300 litres 10 days
    Cucumber Downy mildew ~600 g 200–240 litres 10 days
Citrus Gummosis (Foot Rot) 180 g per 100 L water + 18 g/L linseed oil (paste for trunk painting) 10 litres of spray solution per tree, plus 50 ml of the linseed-oil paste per tree 82 days

Doses for grapes, potato, tomato and cucumber are converted from the official rate published in the CIB&RC's list of approved fungicide uses (Government of India), which states the rate in grams formulation per hectare; converted here to a practical per-acre spray-tank quantity (1 ha ≈ 2.47 acres) and rounded. The citrus gummosis (foot rot) use is a trunk drench/paint application rather than a foliar spray, applied per tree as specified in the CIB&RC source table. Always confirm the current dose on your specific product's label, and consult your local agricultural extension office if in doubt.

    How to Use

    1. Identify your crop and target disease from the table above, and confirm the correct dose per acre and water volume (or, for citrus, the per-tree application method).
    2. Mix the measured quantity of Cymoxanil 8% + Mancozeb 64% WP into a small quantity of water to form a smooth paste first, then add this paste to the spray tank with the remaining water and agitate thoroughly.
    3. Apply as a fine, uniform spray covering the entire crop canopy, including the underside of leaves where downy mildew and late blight infection typically begins.
    4. Begin spraying at the first appearance of disease symptoms, or preventively ahead of expected disease pressure during cool, humid weather, since this combination offers both curative and preventive action.
    5. For citrus gummosis, apply the drench/paint treatment to the affected trunk area as specified in the table, following the current product label for exact preparation.
    6. Repeat foliar sprays at 7–10 day intervals if disease pressure continues, or as advised by local agricultural extension, and rotate with fungicides from a different FRAC group to manage the risk of resistance.

    Precautions & Safety

    • Wear appropriate PPE — mask/respirator, gloves, goggles and full-sleeved clothing — while mixing and spraying, and avoid inhaling spray mist or dust from the wettable powder.
    • Resistance to cymoxanil-class chemistry can develop with repeated, exclusive use; always use this product as part of a rotation with fungicides from a different FRAC group, and do not exceed the recommended number of applications per season.
    • Follow the recommended dose strictly — both underdosing (poor disease control and greater risk of resistant pathogen populations developing) and overdosing reduce field performance and increase cost.
    • Respect the waiting period (PHI) given in the table above and on the current product label before harvesting the treated crop.
    • Store in the original, tightly closed container in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, food and feed, and out of reach of children and livestock.
    • Wash hands, face and any exposed skin thoroughly with soap and water after handling or spraying, and change out of contaminated clothing before eating, drinking or smoking.
