Carbendazim 46.27% SC Fungicide Uses
Currently none of our products with this technical are in stock. Please check back soon, or browse our full product range.
Carbendazim 46.27% SC is a systemic fungicide from the benzimidazole (carbamate) chemical class — the same active ingredient family as the more widely labelled Carbendazim 50% WP, but formulated here as a ready-to-mix suspension concentrate (SC) marketed specifically for powdery mildew control on grapes and mango. It is registered for use in India under the Insecticides Act, 1968 and sold under various trade names. Carbendazim remains legally registered and sold in India; always confirm the current pack label before use. This page lists its mode of action, key benefits and the recommended crop-wise dosage for its labelled uses. For the wider, general-crop label of this active ingredient (cereals, pulses, oilseeds, vegetables), see Carbendazim 50% WP Fungicide Uses.
Which Problem Is This For? (Symptom Guide)
Not sure whether what you're seeing in the vineyard or orchard matches this fungicide's use case? Use this guide to match field symptoms to the crop and disease this specific SC formulation is labelled for.
| Crop | Other Names | What You'll See in the Field |
|---|---|---|
| Grapes | Powdery mildew ("bhabhutiya rog"). | White to greyish powdery fungal growth on leaves, shoots and berries; affected berries develop a net-like russeting on the skin, crack, or fail to develop fully, and severely affected leaves curl and dry up. |
| Mango | Powdery mildew ("bhabhutiya rog"). | White powdery coating on flower panicles, young leaves and developing fruitlets; affected flowers fail to set fruit and dry up, and young fruitlets often drop prematurely. |
Mode of Action
Carbendazim is a systemic, translocated fungicide that acts by binding to beta-tubulin, a structural protein essential for building the mitotic spindle during cell division in fungi. By disrupting spindle-microtubule assembly, it blocks mitosis (nuclear division) in the fungal pathogen, halting its growth, sporulation and spread. Because it interferes with a basic cellular process rather than a single surface enzyme, it provides both protective action — preventing new infection when applied ahead of disease onset — and curative action against early-stage infections already established in plant tissue. As a suspension concentrate, this formulation disperses readily in the spray tank and is absorbed and translocated within the plant's vascular system, continuing to protect new growth for some time after application.
Features & Benefits
- Targeted, systemic control of powdery mildew in grapes and mango, two crops where this disease causes significant yield and quality loss.
- True systemic movement within the plant gives longer-lasting protection than purely contact fungicides.
- Dual protective plus curative action, able to arrest early infections already present in addition to preventing new ones.
- Ready-to-mix suspension concentrate formulation disperses quickly and evenly in the spray tank without the dust handling associated with wettable powders.
Recommended Usage of Carbendazim 46.27% SC Fungicide
The table below gives the recommended dose for each labelled crop and target disease, based on manufacturer label data. Always spray in sufficient water volume for uniform coverage, and confirm against the current product label before use.
| Crop | Target Disease | Dose | Waiting Period (PHI) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Grapes | Powdery Mildew | 0.1% solution (100 ml per 100 litres water) | 30 days |
| Mango | Powdery Mildew | 0.1% solution (100 ml per 100 litres water) | 15 days |
Doses above are the commonly listed formulation-label rates for Carbendazim 46.27% SC. Always confirm the current pack label/CIB registration and consult your local agricultural extension office for the latest guidance before use and before harvest.
How to Use
- Take the required quantity of Carbendazim 46.27% SC and dilute it first in a little water, stirring well.
- Add the remaining quantity of water as per the spray volume required for your orchard/vineyard size, and mix well again by stirring.
- Spray using a knapsack sprayer fitted with a flat-fan nozzle (a foot sprayer is also acceptable) to ensure thorough, uniform coverage of foliage, flowers and developing fruit.
- Apply during the morning or evening hours; avoid spraying in high winds and apply only during clear, rain-free conditions for best uptake.
- This fungicide can be used from the vegetative stage through flowering and fruit-setting; repeat as advised by local agricultural extension based on disease pressure, and always respect the waiting period before harvest.
Precautions & Safety
- Wear appropriate PPE — mask/respirator, gloves, goggles and full-sleeved clothing — while mixing and spraying.
- Avoid tank-mixing with strongly alkaline materials (such as lime or Bordeaux mixture) or copper-based fungicides, which can reduce stability and effectiveness; always do a small jar-compatibility test before mixing with an unfamiliar product.
- Store in the original, tightly closed container in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, food and feed, and out of reach of children and livestock.
- Respect the waiting period (30 days for grapes, 15 days for mango) before harvest, and follow your local agricultural extension advice for the latest guidance.
- Carbendazim resistance is a well-documented issue in several fungal pathogens because of its single-site mode of action; avoid repeated, back-to-back applications on the same crop/disease, and rotate or tank-mix with a fungicide from a different resistance group as part of a resistance-management program.
- Wash hands, face and any exposed skin thoroughly with soap and water after handling or spraying, and change out of contaminated clothing before eating, drinking or smoking.
