Chlorantraniliprole 9.3% + Lambda Cyhalothrin 4.6% ZC is a combination insecticide pairing an anthranilic diamide (chlorantraniliprole) with a synthetic pyrethroid (lambda cyhalothrin), registered for use in India under the Insecticides Act, 1968, formulated as a zeon capsule suspension (ZC). It is registered across pigeonpea (arhar/tur), cotton, brinjal and okra (bhindi) for pod borer, bollworm complex, and shoot & fruit borer along with jassids. This page lists its mode of action, key benefits and the complete crop-wise recommended dosage as per the Central Insecticides Board & Registration Committee’s (CIB&RC) official list of approved insecticide uses.
Mode of Action
This combination product acts through two complementary mechanisms. Chlorantraniliprole activates ryanodine receptors in the insect’s muscle cells, causing uncontrolled calcium release, rapid feeding cessation and paralysis in caterpillar pests. Lambda cyhalothrin binds to voltage-gated sodium channels in nerve membranes, causing repeated nerve impulses, fast knockdown and death, and also controls sucking pests like jassids. The zeon capsule (ZC) technology encapsulates the pyrethroid component in microcapsules, giving faster initial knockdown along with extended residual activity on the leaf surface.
Features & Benefits
- Dual mode of action controls both boring pests (pod borer, bollworm, shoot & fruit borer) and sucking pests (jassids) from a single spray.
- Zeon capsule (ZC) technology combines fast pyrethroid knockdown with extended residual protection.
- Very fast feeding cessation from the diamide component limits further crop damage even before larvae die.
- Registered across pulse, fibre and vegetable crops, useful for farms with mixed cropping of pigeonpea, cotton, brinjal or okra.
Recommended Usage of Chlorantraniliprole 9.3% + Lambda Cyhalothrin 4.6% ZC Insecticide
The table below gives the recommended dose per acre, converted from the official rate published in the Central Insecticides Board & Registration Committee’s (CIB&RC) list of approved insecticide uses (Government of India), which is expressed per hectare (1 ha ≈ 2.47 acres). Always spray in the recommended water volume for uniform coverage, and confirm against the current product label before use.
| Crop | Target Pest | Formulation per Acre (ml) | Water Volume per Acre | Waiting Period (days) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pigeonpea (Arhar/Tur) | Pod borer | 81 | 202.4 | 18 |
| Cotton | Bollworm complex | 101.2 | 202.4 | 20 |
| Brinjal | Shoot & fruit borer, Jassids | 81 | 202.4 | 5 |
| Bhindi (Okra) | Shoot & fruit borer, Jassids | 81 | 202.4 | 3 |
Doses above are converted from the official rate published in the CIB&RC’s list of approved insecticide uses (Government of India), which states the rate per hectare; converted here to a practical per-acre spray-tank quantity (1 ha ≈ 2.47 acres) and rounded. Always confirm the current dose on your specific product’s label, and consult your local agricultural extension office if in doubt.
How to Use
- Identify your crop and target pest from the table above, and confirm the correct dose and water volume.
- Measure the required quantity of Chlorantraniliprole 9.3% + Lambda Cyhalothrin 4.6% ZC and add it to the spray tank half-filled with water, then stir to form a uniform suspension, since this is a zeon capsule suspension (ZC) formulation.
- Apply as a fine, uniform spray covering the entire crop canopy, focusing on flowers, pods and fruiting points where borer larvae bore in.
- Spray at the first sign of egg-laying or early larval feeding, based on regular field scouting.
- Rotate with insecticides from a different mode-of-action group across the season to manage resistance in pod borer and bollworm populations.
Precautions & Safety
- Wear appropriate PPE — mask/respirator, gloves, goggles and full-sleeved clothing — while mixing and spraying, and avoid inhaling spray mist.
- Follow the recommended dose strictly; do not mix with other pesticides unless specifically recommended, and never spray during flowering when bees are foraging, as many insecticides are toxic to bees.
- Respect the waiting period (PHI) given in the table above and on the current product label before harvesting the treated crop.
- Spray during calm weather (early morning or late evening), avoiding rain within a few hours of application and high wind that causes spray drift.
- Store in the original, tightly closed container in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, food and feed, and out of reach of children and livestock.
- Wash hands, face and any exposed skin thoroughly with soap and water after handling or spraying, and change out of contaminated clothing before eating, drinking or smoking.
