Tebuconazole 6.7% + Captan 26.9% SC is a combination, dual-action fungicide registered for use in India under the Insecticides Act, 1968. It pairs a systemic triazole (tebuconazole) with a multi-site contact fungicide (captan), and carries label recommendations for vegetable crops (chilli) and fruit crops (apple), used as a foliar spray against powdery mildew, anthracnose, scab and Alternaria leaf spot/blight. This combination remains legally registered and sold in India; always confirm the current pack label before use. This page lists its mode of action, key benefits and the recommended crop-wise dosage as per manufacturer labels.

Which Problem Is This For? (Symptom Guide)

Not sure whether what you're seeing in the field matches this fungicide's use case? This guide helps match symptoms to this fungicide's approved crop-wise uses.

Crop Other Names What You'll See in the Field
Chilli Powdery Mildew. White, powdery fungal patches on the upper and lower leaf surface that spread and cause premature leaf drop under humid conditions.
Chilli Anthracnose, Fruit Rot ("phal sadan rog"). Sunken, circular, water-soaked spots on ripening fruit that enlarge with concentric rings and pinkish spore masses at the centre, often starting from the fruit tip (a stage farmers call fruit rot).
Apple Scab. Olive-green, velvety spots on leaves and young fruit that turn dark and corky, cracking the fruit surface as it grows.
Apple Alternaria Leaf Spot/Blight. Small, brown-black circular spots with a yellow halo scattered on leaves, which can merge into larger blighted patches and cause early leaf fall in severe cases.

Mode of Action

This product combines two fungicides with different modes of action. Captan is a multi-site, contact (protectant) fungicide that reacts with several different enzyme systems inside fungal spores and cells at once, giving broad-spectrum protective activity with a very low risk of resistance development, but it remains on the leaf/fruit surface rather than moving into the plant. Tebuconazole is a systemic triazole (DMI) fungicide that inhibits the C14-demethylase enzyme needed to build ergosterol in fungal cell membranes, giving both preventive and curative activity from within the plant, with translaminar movement protecting both leaf surfaces. Together, the surface protection and rainfastness of captan combine with the systemic curative reach of tebuconazole to control fungal disease at multiple points in its life cycle.

Features & Benefits

  • Dual contact-plus-systemic action, combining the low resistance-risk protection of captan with the systemic curative activity of tebuconazole.
  • Broad-spectrum control of powdery mildew, anthracnose, scab and Alternaria leaf spot/blight across vegetable and fruit crops.
  • Translaminar movement of the systemic component gives protection on both upper and lower leaf surfaces.
  • Suitable for both row-crop foliar spraying (chilli) and dilute, per-tree orchard spraying (apple).

Recommended Usage of Tebuconazole 6.7% + Captan 26.9% SC Fungicide

The table below gives the commonly recommended dose for each labelled crop and target disease, based on manufacturer label data. Always spray in sufficient water volume for uniform coverage, and confirm against the current product label before use.

Crop Target Disease Dose per Acre Water Volume Waiting Period (PHI)
Chilli Powdery Mildew, Anthracnose 400 ml 200 litres per acre 5 days
Apple (per tree) Powdery Mildew, Alternaria Leaf Spot/Blight, Scab 25 ml 10 litres per tree (spray to run-off) 10 days

Doses above are the commonly listed formulation-label rates for Tebuconazole 6.7% + Captan 26.9% SC. The apple dose is given per tree (dilute spray to run-off) rather than per acre, since orchard tree spacing and canopy size vary widely. Always confirm the current pack label/CIB registration and consult your local agricultural extension office for the latest guidance before use and before harvest.

How to Use

  1. Identify your crop and target disease from the table above, and confirm the correct dose.
  2. Pre-mix the required quantity in a small amount of water, then dilute this gradually into the full spray tank volume while stirring continuously so the suspension concentrate disperses evenly.
  3. Spray using a knapsack or power sprayer fitted with a flat-fan or hollow-cone nozzle for uniform leaf and fruit coverage, preferably during the early morning or late evening.
  4. For orchard (apple) use, spray to run-off on all foliage and fruit surfaces using the per-tree dilution given above, adjusting total spray volume for tree size.
  5. Repeat sprays at 10–15 day intervals if disease pressure continues, and always respect the waiting period before harvest.

Precautions & Safety

  • Wear appropriate PPE — mask/respirator, gloves, goggles and full-sleeved clothing — while mixing and spraying.
  • Do a small jar-compatibility test before tank-mixing with other agrochemicals, and avoid mixing with strongly alkaline materials such as lime or Bordeaux mixture.
  • Store in the original, tightly closed container in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, food, feed and out of reach of children and livestock.
  • Respect the waiting period (PHI) listed for each crop above before harvesting, and follow your local agricultural extension advice for the latest guidance.
  • Although captan's multi-site action carries low resistance risk, tebuconazole (a triazole) is single-site; avoid repeated, back-to-back applications of this product alone across a season, and rotate with a fungicide from a different mode-of-action group as part of a resistance-management program.
  • Wash hands, face and any exposed skin thoroughly with soap and water after handling or spraying, and change out of contaminated clothing before eating, drinking or smoking.
